Australian researchers achieve world’s fastest Internet speed

REFERRENCE IMAGE by - REUTERS

We are all fond of fast internet connections. We unanimously hate buffering, or drop in quality when streaming a movie or broadcasting live on a social media platform. Researchers from Monash, Swinburne, and RMIT universities of Australia have successfully tested and recorded the world’s fastest internet data speed.— at a staggering 44.2 TERA-bits per seconds. The researchers achieved this from a single optical chip which is as tiny as a fingernail and it has already been tested in an existing fiber broadband line in Australia; secondly, the internet speeds were achieved and sustained in a non-laboratory, consumer network; and finally, even in the coded, in-field tests, the drop in peak speeds was not drastic.

  • IS THIS FOR REAL?

Yes, it is. The achievement was published in the Nature Communications journal. The speeds achieved reached 44.2 Tbps at peak, and in a coded line, the peak speed fell to 39 Tbps — a near-12 percent drop .

To achieve the fastest internet speeds ever, the researchers used what is referred to as 'soliton crystal micro-combs'. In simpler terms, this optical chip is a super high-density chip that can replace 80 laser nodes inside an optic fiber broadband cable. In essence, what this micro-comb does is act like a splitter, thereby dividing an existing optic fiber cable into 80 unique channels. However, what is particularly impressive note is that each channel preserves its peak bandwidth capacity, or the maximum amount of data that it can carry. Hence, by deploying this chip inside existing telecommunications cables and infrastructure, the maximum internet speeds delivered can increase exponentially. For more details read below

  • Findings of the research

In light of the pressures being placed on the world’s internet infrastructure, recently highlighted by isolation policies as a result of COVID-19, the research team led by Dr Bill Corcoran (Monash), Distinguished Professor Arnan Mitchell (RMIT) and Professor David Moss (Swinburne) were able to achieve a data speed of 44.2 Terabits per second (Tbps) from a single light source.

This technology has the capacity to support the high-speed internet connections of 1.8 million households in Melbourne. This can also address the problem of virtual jams across the world during peak periods.

For this study, researchers achieved these quick speeds using existing communications infrastructure where they were able to efficiently load-test the network.

They used a new device called micro-comb that replaces 80 lasers, which is smaller and lighter than existing telecommunications hardware. It was planted into and load-tested using existing infrastructure, which mirrors that used by the NBN.

It is the first time any micro-comb has been used in a field trial and possesses the highest amount of data produced from a single optical chip.

Dr Bill Corcoran, co-lead author of the study and Lecturer in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering at Monash University said in an official statement: “We’re currently getting a sneak-peak of how the infrastructure for the internet will hold up in two to three years’ time, due to the unprecedented number of people using the internet for remote work, socializing and streaming. It’s really showing us that we need to be able to scale the capacity of our internet connections.”

He added that the team’s research demonstrates the ability of fibers that people already have in the ground.
Other possibilities

“And it’s not just Netflix we’re talking about here – it’s the broader scale of what we use our communication networks for. This data can be used for self-driving cars and future transportation and it can help the medicine, education, finance, and e-commerce industries, as well as enable us to read with our grandchildren from kilometers away.”

To illustrate the impact optical micro-combs have on optimizing communication systems, researchers installed 76.6km of ‘dark’ optical fibers between RMIT’s Melbourne City Campus and Monash University’s Clayton Campus. The optical fibers were provided by Australia’s Academic Research Network.

Researchers were able to send maximum data down each channel, simulating peak internet usage, across 4THz of bandwidth.

Professor Moss, Director of the Optical Sciences Centre at Swinburne, stated: “In the 10 years since I co-invented micro-comb chips, they have become an enormously important field of research.”
He added: “It is truly exciting to see their capability in ultra-high bandwidth fiber optic telecommunications coming to fruition. This work represents a world-record for bandwidth down a single optical fiber from a single chip source, and represents an enormous breakthrough for part of the network which does the heaviest lifting. Micro-combs offer enormous promise for us to meet the world’s insatiable demand for bandwidth.”

  • SO, HOW FAST DOES IT WORK IN REAL LIFE?

For reference, imagine downloading 720p resolution movie files, each about 120 minutes in length in average . For such files with industry standard compression, the average file size is about 1 to 1.5 GB. If you had a 44.2 Tbps internet connection  , you can download as many as 1000 movies in a second.

  •  HOW TO GET THIS?

With every new achievement such as this, there is typically a wait time. The achievement has been made as part of a research project so it will take at least some time before the optical chip technology can be made commercially viable to common people .Then, remains the task of upgrading all the existing fiber broadband lines around the world to bring you the fastest internet speeds in the world, which itself a huge task in terms of logistics, time, deployment and cost.

Even once it is done, priority will be given to industrial applications such as medical research, space communications, smart cities and connected cars, and so on.

However, what's encouraging to note is that the tests for the fastest internet speeds in the world were achievable on existing fiber broadband lines. This gives us the relief that once it does become commercially deployable, the common folks can get it . While we cannot exactly predict how long will it take , we will keep our fingers crossed for a hopeful and fast near future.

Binaural Beats Therapy: Benefits & How they work ?

Binaural beat therapy is an emerging form of sound wave therapy. It makes use of the fact that the right and left ear each receive a slightly different frequency tone, yet the brain perceives these as a single tone.

This type of therapy is recommend  for the treatment of anxiety, stress  related disorders. This treatment is usually available in the form of audio recordings that a person listens to on stereo headphones.(Not Mono cuz one have to listen with both the ears , WHY !? CHECK BELOW )

NOTE :

Binaural beat therapy is not part of standard care for any condition. Doctors consider this treatment to be semi-experimental.

How do binaural beats work?

According to a 2015 literature review, the tones should be at frequencies lower than 1,000 hertz (Hz) for the brain to detect the binaural beat. The binaural beat that a person perceives is the frequency difference between the waves entering the left and right ear.

For example, if the left ear registers a tone at 124 Hz and the right ear registers one at 114 Hz, the binaural beat is 10 Hz — the difference between the two frequencies.
2018 study suggest that listening to binaural beats for a recommended period can affect a person’s subsequent behaviour and sleep cycles.

Patterns :

The study authors explain that there are five different categories of frequency pattern:

  • Delta pattern: Binaural beats in the delta pattern operate at a frequency of 0.5–4 Hz with links to a dreamless sleep. In the study, people who received a delta pattern frequency during sleep entered a deeper stage of sleep, according to electroencephalogram (EEG) brain scan results.

  • Theta pattern: Practitioners set binaural beats in the theta pattern to a frequency of 4–7 Hz. Theta patterns contribute to improved meditation, creativity, and sleep in the rapid eye movement (REM) phase.

  • Alpha pattern: Binaural beats in the alpha pattern are at a frequency of 7–13 Hz and may encourage relaxation.

  • Beta pattern: Binaural beats in the beta pattern are at a frequency of 13–30 Hz. This frequency range may help promote concentration and alertness. However, it can also increase anxiety at the higher end of the range.

  • Gamma pattern: This frequency pattern accounts for a range of 30–50 Hz. The study authors suggest that these frequencies promote maintenance of arousal while a person is awake.

Benefits

The purpose of using binaural beats therapy may differ among individuals. Some people may need help decreasing their anxiety, while others might want to increase their concentration or deepen their level of meditation.

Binaural beat therapy suggest that the potential benefits include:

  • reduced stress and anxiety
  • increased focus, concentration, and motivation
  • improved confidence
  • better long term memory after exposure to beta pattern frequencies, according to a 2019 study
  • deeper meditation
  • enhanced psychomotor performance and mood

However, a 2017 study that measured the effects of binaural beat therapy using EEG monitoring found that binaural beat therapy does not affect brain activity or emotional stimulation. The researchers also monitored heart rate and skin conductance as indicators of emotional arousal.

How to use Binaural Beats  ⇩ :

To listen to binaural beats, a person will need a pair of stereo headphones and an MP3 player or another music system.(You will get playlists of Binaural Beats in YouTube , Spotify or any music streaming app in the play store )

People should follow the instructions from the producer of the beat carefully. Those who do not see any reduction in anxiety might benefit from trying a different producer, type of sound, or frequency.
It is important to avoid using binaural beats therapy while undertaking tasks that require alertness and full attention, such as driving.

How To Play PUBG Mobile On PC

PUBG Mobile has grown by leaps and bounds with over 50 million daily active players on the platform. Taking out enemies on your phone and getting that chicken dinner is the way PUBG Mobile is meant to be played, there’s also an official alternative to do the same on a PC or a laptop which is available at steam as PUBG PC (Which is in app purchase ) . If you are of the kind that is more comfortable with a keyboard-mouse combo or if you can't afford the PUBG PC or a high end Gaming Pc but still wish to play PUBG then you can also play the mobile game on your PC .

Here’s how to do so:

1) Download and install official Tencent Gaming Buddy Emulator

2) Run the emulator and it will download game files on its own

3) Change the emulator's language, if required

4) Run PUBG and download additional game files

5) Play and win that chicken dinner!

System Requirements :

The Process :

To play PUBG Mobile on your PC, one needs to download the official Tencent Gaming Buddy Emulator from the right place .Because all sites providing software are not safe but don't worry I'll put the download link below .

There’s also BlueStacks app for emulating the game on a computer, but the Gaming Buddy Emulator is simpler to set-up. Head over to the website and download the emulator The emulator setup installer is around 9MB in size but it serves as an intermediate package to download the additional files needed to install the entire game.

Once downloaded, double click on the downloaded file to run the installer. Select the destination where you want the game to be installed and hit install. After installation, a new window will open up which will show you download progress of the additional files that the emulator requires to get the title up and running.

SETTINGS TO BE DONE :

When booted up, the emulator will show PUBG Mobile icon and clicking on it will boot up the game. It will then download additional files required to run the game. This process is equivalent to the OBB files being downloaded on a phone when PUBG Mobile is booted for the first time. Let the game download files, ( You have to grant access to storage for the game to download files )

In case the Gaming Buddy Emulator is installed on another PC, you can copy the same files to your laptop/PC to skip the wait. To do this, head over to the ‘Temp’ folder on the drive where the emulator is installed , and copy the ‘TxGameDownload’ folder on a flash drive, which is around 2GB in size. Now, paste this folder in the same ‘Temp’ directory on the PC where the emulator is yet to download the files, the emulator will detect and verify the files, and boot up the game directly to the login screen.

However, this second method requires a computer where the Gaming Buddy Emulator is already set up and the game is up and running. In case there’s no such provision, let the game download additional files. After files are downloaded, the game will boot up and from there on, it’s similar to how the game behaves on mobile phones. As you are using an emulator, it will show a notice that the user will only be paired with other users that are also playing the game on a PC. However, there is no such restriction and one will be able to team up with their friends that are playing the game on their phones.

The Game Play :

Now the game will automatically launch for the first time loading . All you have to do then is agreeing to Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy and Sign Up or Login using Facebook or Google Play Games id (if You have previously logged in the game ) or you can simply play as guest .

Controls are as default for a shooting game

WASD for movement , RMB to aim LMB to shoot , c/z to crouch Prone ,F to pickup ,

1 2 3 4 ... assign these no. to your melees or grenades . Now let the action begin

One thing to remember whenever you are playing in emulator a message will pop up like these .

But don't be afraid I myself paired with my mate who plays in mobile and i was in Emulator so if you can't pair into the lobby keep trying : )

So now go forth to get that chicken dinner. Happy gaming ; )

If you loved the article share with your friends to play together .

Grand Theft Auto Free Download Crashes Epic Games Store

The Epic Games store experienced glitches on Thursday as fans rushed to download a free copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
Within minutes of making the game free online the increase in visiting the side caused the site to slow and send error messages.
Epic blamed the slowdown on "heavy traffic" and said they were working to fix the problem.
Grand Theft Auto , the GTA series is made by Rockstar Games and One of these is GTA V , one of the top selling gaming franchises.
Every week Epic Games makes a 'mystery game' available without charge on its store. The games are available for PCs or Macs. Users who download the week's mystery game can keep it forever, even when the free to download period expires.
On Wednesday it was announced Grand Theft Auto V would be this week's game.
The game became available at 15:00 GMT . Within minutes of the launch users began to report slowdowns and error messages.

On Twitter Handle , the company tried to calm fans.

Grand Theft Auto was launched in 2013 and even after 5 years the craze for the game and huge fanbase has not been decreased .

C++ Operators

C++ Operators

Operators are used to perform operations on variables and values. They are of many types so get straight to them

Assignment operator (=):

The assignment operator assigns a value to a variable.
a= 5;
This statement assigns the integer value 5 to the variable x. The assignment operation always takes place from right to left, and never the other way around:

see an example

so we assigned value 5 to a and then printed to it

SWAPPING OF VARIABLES :

Now see an example of swapping the variables----------

for swapping two values we need a third variable,

first we assign the value of c equal to a then we make b=c so b becomes = a & declaring a=b so that a becomes b.

So thus we can change the value assigned to an operator.

some combination of operators are shown below-----------------------

“+=”:

This operator is combination of ‘+’ and ‘=’ operators. This operator first adds the current value of the variable on left to the value on right and then assigns the result to the variable on the left.

Example:

(a += b) can be written as (a = a + b)
If initially value stored in a is 7. Then (a += 6) = 13.

“-=”:

This operator is combination of ‘-‘ and ‘=’ operators. This operator first subtracts the value on right from the current value of the variable on left and then assigns the result to the variable on the left.

Example:

(a -= b) can be written as (a = a - b)
If initially value stored in a is 7. Then (a -= 6) = 1.

“*=”:

This operator is combination of ‘*’ and ‘=’ operators. This operator first multiplies the current value of the variable on left to the value on right and then assigns the result to the variable on the left.

Example:

(a *= b) can be written as (a = a * b)
If initially value stored in a is 7. Then (a *= 6) = 42.

“/=”:

This operator is combination of ‘/’ and ‘=’ operators. This operator first divides the current value of the variable on left by the value on right and then assigns the result to the variable on the left.

Example:

(a /= b) can be written as (a = a / b)
If initially value stored in a is 6. Then (a /= 2) = 3.

Arithmetic operators ( +, -, *, /, % ) :

They are of two types----------

1. Unary Operators:

Operators that operates or works with a single operand are unary operators. For example: (++ , –)

2. Binary Operators:

Operators that operates or works with two operands are binary operators. For example: (+ , – , * , /)

now discussing about Unary Operators we can see there are five types of arithmetical operations .

The five arithmetical operations supported by C++ are:

operator
description
+
addition
-
subtraction
*
multiplication
/
division
%
modulo

Operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division hint to their respective mathematical operators. The  modulo operator, represented by a percentage sign (%), gives the remainder of a division of two values. For example:

int x;
x = 5 % 3 ;

results in variable x containing the value 2, since dividing 5 by 3 results in 1 , with a remainder of 2.

similarly

int a = 10 ,b = 2 , c= 5 ,d;

cout<<a+b;    //will give you 12
cout<<a-b;     //will give you 8
cout<<a*b;    //will give you 20
cout<<a/b;    //will give you 5

d=c/b;

cout<<d;    /*will give you 2 as 5/2 is 2.5 but it will return the integer value                           as you prefixed d as integer*/
